Donald R. Klotz, Jr. is an accomplished insurance defense trial lawyer with over 25 years of experience handling as lead counsel both bench trials and jury trials. Don currently specializes in the defense of first-party homeowners insurance claims and trucking litigation claims. Don completed his undergraduate studies at Loyola University in New Orleans and also attended Loyola School of Law. During law school, he was a student practitioner in the Loyola Law Clinic and the Loyola Trial Competition. Don was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1990. Upon being admitted to the Bar, Don received a commission into the United States Air Force as an officer and Judge Advocate. Don was then admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Military in the early 1990s. He served honorably for 25 years as a lawyer in the military both on active duty and in the reserves, retiring in the rank of Major from the United States Army Reserve Judge Advocate Corp in 2016. Don has also been an insurance defense attorney for more than twenty five years gaining extensive trial experience. In the last 25 years he has tried more than one hundred civil cases many of these were jury trials. Don practices before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Military Appeals.
